How can we use GenAI to improve regulatory reporting efficiency whilst maintaining expert oversight and control?

The client’s Finance Department faced increasing complexity from evolving Solvency II and IFRS 17 reporting requirements. Teams needed to analyse movements in financial results, reconcile discrepancies across reporting frameworks and provide clear explanations to the Executive Committee within increasingly compressed timelines. The existing manual reporting processes were resource-intensive, difficult to scale and created the risk that important control issues could go undetected.

THE APPROACH

Combining generative AI automation with expert-driven controls and analysis

We designed and deployed a bespoke generative AI solution to automate key elements of the reporting process. The solution enhanced controls over cash-flow projection model outputs, performed large-scale analysis using embedded business intelligence capabilities and automatically generated PowerPoint reports containing control results and expert insights. A large language model quality-assurance layer was incorporated to maintain auditability and confidence in generated narratives.

Faster reporting, deeper insights and a 90% productivity improvement

The solution enabled controls to be performed instantly and at scale, helping identify production anomalies earlier and providing deeper analysis of key movements and value drivers. Executive Committee reporting production achieved a 90% productivity gain, allowing the team to respond more quickly to management requests whilst maintaining robust controls and governance.
