Delivering a complex M&A integration
A global asset manager asked:
How can we integrate two businesses whilst reducing complexity and creating a more efficient operating model?

THE ASK
How do you combine two global asset managers into one business?
Our client acquired a major asset management subsidiary and needed to integrate the two organisations into a single operating model. The combined business would become one of the world's largest asset managers, making it essential to deliver a seamless integration whilst maintaining service quality, managing operational complexity and capturing the expected value of the acquisition.
THE APPROACH
Designing the future-state target operating model and leading the integration
We prioritised the institutional business as the first phase of the integration, mapping the current operating models across both organisations. We designed the future-state target operating model, aligned stakeholders around the model and developed and managed the migration roadmap from planning through implementation. We also oversaw delivery across people, technology and operations to support a smooth transition.
THE OUTCOME
One operating model delivering lower costs and greater efficiency
The integration successfully brought together the two organisations into a single operating model. Duplicate platforms, processes and solutions across both organisations were consolidated, creating a simpler operating model and reducing the cost of running the combined business. The combined organisation moved to a single operating model, with simplified processes, reduced complexity and a stronger foundation for delivering services to legacy clients.
