Current Responsibility

Jennifer is a consulting actuary with the Milliman Life practice based in London. She joined Milliman in 2010.

Jennifer has strong modelling experience, having spent a year working on the client site for the Royal London Actuarial Systems Transformation (AST) programme, and prior to that 18 months on the Phoenix Group’s AST programme. During her time on these projects, Jennifer worked closely with the client’s modelling team and helped develop the model in respect of the specific features of their products.

Jennifer has supported the independent expert on a number of engagements, most recently acting as the lead consultant on a Part VII transfer. These roles involved assessing the impact of the transfer on the benefit security and fair treatment of affected policyholders, including consideration of the potential impact any restructuring may have under Solvency I and Solvency II legislation.

Jennifer has worked on secondment at the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) providing support for a Part VII transfer involving two large UK insurers. This involved reviewing the documents submitted by the firms, including taking the lead in carrying out the supervisory and actuarial review of the independent expert’s report and the various actuarial reports. Jennifer has been responsible for managing the review process with the supervision team as well as other PRA teams, managing queries through to resolution with the firms, liaising with the Financial Conduct Authority and assisting in drafting the PRA’s court reports.

Jennifer has supported both the buy-side and sell-side of separate potential acquisitions. In particular, she assisted a multinational insurer in producing an appraisal value of the target company.

Jennifer provides ongoing support to the chief actuary for one of Milliman’s regular valuation clients. This involves reviewing experience analyses, producing basis recommendations and assisting with drafting supervisory reports. Jennifer also assisted in their preparation for the implementation of Solvency II. Jennifer also supported the actuarial function holder of an equity release provider, including designing and developing valuation and capital models for its equity release mortgages assets.

Jennifer currently assists on a with-profits actuary supervisory role, which involves reviewing the appropriateness of the bonus recommendations and ensuring fair management of the with-profits business.

Jennifer’s other experience includes assisting with the run-off plan modelling for a with-profits insurer and using Bayesian networks and cognitive mapping techniques to enhance the risk reporting framework for a large Australian insurer.
