Current Responsibility

Lesley is the lead Business Analyst in the Milliman UK Health Analytics practice. She joined Milliman in January 2016.

Experience

Lesley has over ten years' experience in the health analytics and informatics sector, where she has operated in both strategic and operational leadership roles.

She has worked in the English NHS, as well as in the commercial IT / systems integration sector.

Most recently Lesley worked in a strategic development and delivery management role as Programme Director for one of the largest pay for performance / quality improvement initiatives in English hospitals called Advancing Quality. In this role she worked closely with clinicians and multi-disciplinary teams to embed standardised, evidence based care processes across an English region. This resulted in reduced mortality and improvements in other clinical outcomes. Lesley's role involved:

  • Implementing a standardised approach to clinical evidence review and definition of evidence based metrics
  • Design and implementation of new systems to capture data, benchmark performance, and generate insight across all of the region's hospitals
  • Generating forums for knowledge sharing and collaboration
  • Designing and implementing financial and non-financial incentive schemes, aligned across commissioners and providers
  • Aligning the programme to local and national policies, and developing the programme to respond to commissioner and provider priorities
  • Translating and implementing the programme model in non-hospital care settings

Previous to Advancing Quality, Lesley worked in business analysis and business intelligence roles for shared service organisations within the NHS. The primary purpose was to support commissioners and providers of healthcare in making evidence based decisions. In these roles she developed expertise in NHS datasets and information standards and developed technical and product development experience.

Most projects involved analysis of patient cohorts within the health system to bring an understanding of patient flows and support the planning and re-design of clinical service provision in the region. Projects included: predictive risk of hospital admission, contract management and financial flows, and several examples of patient pathway mapping.

Prior to joining the NHS, Lesley worked in technical systems analysis and software development roles for Logica UK. She worked on consulting projects for high profile clients in the energy and utilities sector.
